Welcome to the best men’s residence hall at the University of Notre Dame.
Per Ardua Ad Spes
Since its founding in 2019, Baumer Hall has been a place of special welcome. Our motto, Per Ardua Ad Spes — “Through Adversity to Hope” — encapsulates our mission as young men to use our resources and gifts to make a difference in the Notre Dame community and beyond.
A Message From our Donor, John Baumer
Dear Buccaneers,
The brotherhood and camaraderie of dorm life are the fondest memories of my time at Notre Dame. I found Zahm Hall to be my “happy place” where I could always find a friend or two or many to provide laughs, advice, insights or simply a hang out.
Whether it was the excitement around a pending game or the stress associated with regular student life, I knew that my dorm mates would share the excitement or emphathize with the stress and always have my back. To this day, my closest friendships remain those made during my time in Zahm Hall. Although we are scattered across the country, we remain exceptionally close due to the special bonding that occurred during our dorm life.
I believe the most special and unique part of the undergraduate experience at Notre Dame is the life long friendships and bonding that occurs during one’s three or four years of dorm life. My hope is that Baumer Hall becomes the “happy place” for those students who become Buccaneers and they are able to look back on their dorm life at Notre Dame as among the best years of their life and the source of many lifelong friendships.
I encourage all Buccaneers to appreciate their time together, support each other in all endeavors and soak in the greatness of dorm life.
- John Baumer, Donor of Baumer Hall
Mr. Baumer and his family.
